Named after rituals of celebration in women's lives—bridal shower and baby shower—that connote that women's lives are only celebrated in relationship to another individual to whom she is beneficial. blood shower is a celebration of the female body itself, the first menstruation cycle, a change in the body and a sign of the body's growth and resilience. Being a material of warmth, comfort and traditionally used for making toilet seats, wood is bodily. The toilet seat is surrounded by corporeal forms inspired by the pelvic bone. Braiding is a communal activity in many cultural and women-centered communities. Here, the braids are made so that they also appear like dripping blood. The toilet collects generations of blood, from the grandmother to the mother to the granddaughter. It is a celebration of intergenerational, collective strength of the female body.
