My professor is working with a filmmaker who is making a documentary on the 1974 Schizo-culture conference. My professor contacted one of the editors of the Semiotext(e) publication of the conference materials to help him put together the film. To gain insight into the participation of the conference, my professor had me go to the NYU Fales Special Collection's Sylvère Lotringer Papers and Semiotext(e) Archive to take photos of primary documents from the conference. I was able to access email exchanges, hand-written notes of speeches given at the conference and French originals of speeches. Organizing so many diverse materials for my professor was a time-consuming and meticulous task, but the array of materials gives insight into the conference that secondary accounts cannot replicate. This is my first time using a library's special collection for a project. I had seen Columbia Avery Library's collection of architecture drawings but not yet used a library's archive for my own research projects. My time at NYU Fales opened me to the possibility of attaining primary documents for my own research project through library archival search.

Unfortunately, due to copyright guidelines, I cannot share any of the materials I saw in NYU Fales. However, I used this book that my professor gave me as a direction for what kind of materials may best shine light on the conference that took place more than 50 years ago.
